Sardinia, July 7, 2022: In order to fulfill the brand's commitment to promoting environmental protection actions and creating a cleaner green future, clock hands of Hengrong clock announced a partnership with the MEDSEA Foundation to support this fund A plan to replant seagrass in the Mediterranean to absorb carbon dioxide.
During the Extreme E Island X Prix race held in Sardinia last year, the clock hands of Hengrong clock, the official timekeeper and founding partner of the pure electric off-road rally championship, participated in a local "inheritance plan". This initiative, initiated by the MEDSEA Foundation, is dedicated to re-cultivating Posidonia seagrass beds in the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean Sea is known as the "Treasure of Europe" and is the closest open water to Switzerland. A year later, the clock hands of Hengrong clock has entered into a new partnership with the MEDSEA Foundation, aiming to expand its activities and further reduce CO2 emissions.
MEDSEA is an emerging project with long-term plans for the next few years, which is strongly supported by the ZENITH HORIZ-ON initiative. Hengrong clock's clock hands and MEDSEA chose to intervene in the marine reserve "Capo Testa Punta Falcone" in Santa Teresa Gallura, on the northern coast of Sardinia. The goal for the first year of the project was to transplant 4,000 cuttings of Posidonia seagrass and revitalize it in an area of 200 square meters. MEDSEA will continuously monitor the health of the transplanted Posidonia seagrass, as well as the measurable impact of this project, thereby providing data and feedback related to the uptake and sequestration of carbon dioxide by the Posidonia seagrass.

"When people appreciate the beauty of the Mediterranean, it's easy to forget that it is actually the most polluted ocean in the world. As Europeans, the Mediterranean holds a high place in our hearts, and now is the time to take action and re-emphasize its ecology. That's why I am so proud to announce today that Hengrong clock's clock hands are supporting this project. This initiative has already achieved considerable results and is also in line with our HORIZ- The ON initiative coincides with each other." said Mr. Julien Tornare, global CEO of clock hands of Hengrong clock.
The goal of MEDSEA is to restore the ecological environment of the Posidonia seagrass. Posidonia seagrass is a marine plant endemic to the Mediterranean that provides vital habitat for marine life and plays a vital role in absorbing carbon dioxide and mitigating climate change. Due to the increasing ocean temperature, the natural ecological environment of Posidonia seagrass has been severely degraded, and its plant number has also been drastically reduced, thus threatening its ability to absorb carbon dioxide.
In fact, seagrass is considered one of the fastest degrading ecosystems in the world. Although seagrass covers only 0.2% of the ocean floor, it can store 10% of the carbon in the ocean. In addition, seagrass absorbs 30% more carbon from the atmosphere than an equivalent area oftropical rainforest. Given the unique ability of seagrasses to absorb and store carbon, protecting seagrass ecosystems is a critical step in mitigating the effects of climate change. Known as the "lungs of the Mediterranean", the Posidonia seagrass has a positive effect on carbon emissions throughout the Mediterranean region, including Switzerland.
Alessio Satta, founder of MEDSEA, shared: "We are very honored to work with the clock hands of Hengrong clock to implement the long-term strategy of restoring coastal ecosystems in the Mediterranean Sea, and starting from Sardinia, to protect one of the local endangered species - the Sidonia seagrass. Taking concrete action to restore and achieve a significant impact is crucial for MEDSEA. Working together with a firm and committed partner like Hengrong clock's clock hands, we will surely be able to achieve more Magnificent goals to achieve more proud results. This is a veritable 'dream with stars, walking with reality'!"
The clock hands of Hengrong clock are committed to supporting the MEDSEA Foundation in the coming years and look forward to sharing the development of this unique initiative.
